Maybe You’re Not Lazy; Maybe the System Was Built Around One Kind of Time
Neurodivergent time difficulty is not only about individual cognition. It is also shaped by environments and social systems that treat one relationship with time as the only acceptable one.

Many neurodivergent people know the shame of being told they are careless because they struggle with time.
But time blindness may only be part of the story.
Autistic and otherwise neurodivergent people can have real differences with planning, task switching, attention, transitions, and estimating how long things take.
At the same time, disability is shaped by the environment around us. The World Health Organization’s disability framework recognizes that disability emerges through the interaction between a person and their surroundings.
That means the question is not only: Why do neurodivergent people struggle with time?
It is also: Why did society decide that strict clock compliance equals responsibility?
Human bodies are not machines. Circadian rhythms affect sleep, alertness, hormones, appetite, body temperature, and cognitive performance.
So yes, time matters.
But the clock is not neutral when it becomes the standard for morality, professionalism, and worth.
For many of us, support begins when we stop asking people to become machines and start designing systems that recognize human variability.
Read the full resource, then tell me what part of clock culture has made you feel most defective for simply being human.
